Pollution Prevention: Methodology, Technologies and Practices
Published in Hardcover by Amer Inst of Chemical Engineers (November, 1998)
Authors: J. A. Dyer and Kenneth Mulholland
Average review score:

Learn from experienced DuPont practitioners.
The NST/Engineers, Inc. reviewers recommend this book to responsible individuals in facilities that are relatively new to the practice of pollution prevention, and to those who believe their facility practices encompass every feasible approach to pollution prevention. Both camps can learn a great deal from these seasoned DuPont practitioners. You can get an extended appreciation of the kinds of topics the authors address and their approaches to solutions by reading two of their articles in the May 1999 issue of Chemical Engineering Progress.

The authors lead the reader, step-by-step, through the establishment of a pollution prevention management and operating structure for any facility, whether or not it is considered a "chemical facility". The only question is whether or not any potentially problem-causing gases, vapors, liquids, or solids are being disseminated beyond the fence-line. If there are any of the above flowing from your facility, read this book. You are bound to be helped by the practical information and case studies presented.

Our reviewers consider that the authors give enough of the tried and proven "methodology and practices", which, if instituted in a facility, will go a long way in helping establish ISO-14000 readiness. You will also be better prepared for Process Hazards Analysis and other components of Process Safety Management. On the other hand, if you are well along the road of PSM accomplishment, you will find the reading will make it easier to move into advanced pollution prevention practices.

There is quite a bit of detail on capital and operating costs for major pollution control technologies. Suggestions for achieving savings in a variety of operations are given. The authors stress the importance of considering changes in process technology and operating procedures. They give examples. They show how to prevent wastes from occurring in the first place; as opposed to being forced to spend a lot of effort in trying to prevent dissemination of the wastes in existing processes or procedures.

Power Play-Individuals in Conflict: Literary Selections for Students of English
Published in Paperback by Pearson ESL (21 February, 1996)
Author: Brenda Dyer

Power Play meets the challenging needs of English Majors
It is quite interesting. It helped students realize the difficulties and the facts of life. It gives the chance to learn about cultures and what kind of problems they confront in the States. The language was perfect so we enjoyed talking about the stories in class bringing out what we thought about the events, characters, plot.It was at times possible to find something related to us in those stories. The questions and activities that followed were perfect. The pre-reading section was superb as it prepared us to th story and we had to guess what we were to read. Reading classes became a joy with this book. These are what the students wrote to be posted to Brenda Dyer. I as the instructor of the course would like to congratulate the writer for comiling such a good edition to be used in Reading classes.

The Preacher's Revenge
Published in Digital by Renaissance eBooks ()
Author: Sr. Dyer
Average review score:

Fantastic!
This novel, The Preachers Revenge, is by far knock your socks' off good. I have to say this Dot Novel comes in a very close second to my favorite Dot novel, A Dot on the Map. The author has outdone himself with this book. He has continued with his thread of realism with this novel and added a twist to make it suspenseful. The author has returned all of the main players with this book. In this novel you will see how one layer acts against and for other layers in the relationships that have been built in all the previous novels, and this one. You see the intricate and, often times intimate relationships found in a small town. This book has all of the other novels relationship foibles with cheating, lying, and just plain base sexual gratification, but you also see them own up to past mistakes, and immediately correcting new ones. It's good to see that the couples in this series don't just quit when the going gets tough. They attempt to make relationships last. It is good to see in this novel that marriage isn't just another word for 'let's give it a try for a while and if it doesn't work out'I'll call my retained divorce lawyer.' This book is a very gratifying read. I have to give it 5 stars!

The Rainbow Beneath My Feet: A Mushroom Dyer's Field Guide
Published in Paperback by Syracuse Univ Pr (Trade) (July, 2001)
Authors: Arleen Rainis Bessette, Alan E. Bessette, and Arleen Raines Bessette
Average review score:

Great field guide to mushrooms for dyeing
This book does not give much information on how to dye with mushrooms, however, it is the absolute best field guide to mushrooms used for dyeing to date. Each mushroom is described in detail, with an accompanying color photograph and the colors that it yields. This book is a must have for mushroom dyers.

The Random House Book of Bedtime Stories
Published in Library Binding by Random House (Merchandising) (September, 1994)
Authors: Jane Dyer and Tony Geiss
Average review score:

WONDERFUL Group of Stories!
This book has stories that are not in the usual group of bedtime/fairy tales that we have purchased or received. No Cinderella or Princess and the Pea (not that they are not wonderful!). Lovely stories like Young Kate and the Snow Maiden totally mesmerize my daughter! Cannot recommend enough for 4-6 year olds!

A Rebel at the Chalet School (The Chalet School Series)
Published in Paperback by Trafalgar Square (September, 2000)
Authors: Elinor Brent-Dyer and Elinor M. Brent-Dyer
Average review score:

Another excellent Chalet School book
The Chalet School series is wonderful reading for children and adults alike. Taking place in the historical setting of pre-WW2 Austria, this book is not only of value for its fast-paced adventures but also for the empowering feel of an all-girl school, where women and girls are the prime heroines. I especially liked this book because Joey, Cornelia and the rest are showing signs of growing up, and it's fun to watch them struggling to act mature when their obvious impulse is to play jokes and act silly. If you are going to read this book, make sure you have read the Chalet School and the Lintons, since originally these two books were published in one edition (as The Chalet School and the Lintons) and when they were broken into two books for paperback publication they were simply split into two parts right in the middle of the book, at the end of a chapter. So if you read Rebels without reading Lintons first you would find yourself very confused!

Rivals of the Chalet School (The Chalet School Series)
Published in Paperback by Trafalgar Square (September, 2000)
Author: Elinor M. Brent-Dyer
Average review score:

One of the best in the series
"Rivals" is unique in that it deals not only with the Chalet School Girls, but with a entire new group: the students of "Saints", a new school across the lake that competes with the Chalet School in every way. The Chalet School girls, including Joey Bettany, must learn to deal with girls from different backgrounds and with decidedly different ideas and attitudes from their own. Through trial and error, between staff as well as students, the Chalet School makes way for the newcomers. This book also plays on the early married life of the founder, Madge Bettany, and her often mentioned twin, Dick Bettany.

Entertainment mixed with a dash of learning!
How often do you find a book you can't put down? This story will capture your imagination and keep you reading until the very end...and beyond. The story takes place in an unusual school: a place where learning is magic.

My son begged to read my copy, and wound up getting his own. He tells all his friends about his new favorite writer. His only disappointment is that he can't transfer to Eagle Glen.

A simple story of a young girl who has a sick day
Jane Duer illustrates Patricia MacLachlan's The Sick Day, a simple story of a young girl who has a sick day - her stomach aches and her throat feels sore. Good reading skills will lend to this easy story of a girl who involves her father in her day off, turning a sick day into something special after all.

Slim Wok Cookery
Published in Paperback by H.P. Books (March, 1986)
Author: Ceil Dyer
Average review score:

A Bible for Healthy Eaters
My husband and I acquired this cookbook over a decade ago and it has become our basic cooking bible. All the recipes are easy, quick, very creative, and in some cases combine different cooking styles to produce surprisingly pleasing results. The recipes highlight lean meats and fresh vegetables, accentuated with delightful sauces and seasonings. Dyer's knowledge of different world cuisine and seasoning is extensive. The only criticism at all is that garlic lovers will want to double or triple the amount called for. Our book is falling into shreds. We will gladly buy a nicely bound copy from anyone who has one to offer.
